[theoriae doxa] I.

CENTRAL QUESTIONS

The residency may support inquiry into questions such as:

– What historical and institutional operations produce “new music” as a recognizable category?

– Which ideals organize its canons, pedagogies, programs, and economies of attention?

– How do material infrastructures condition artistic possibility and scholarly interpretation?

– What forms of labor and knowledge remain unacknowledged in dominant narratives?

– How are novelty, experimentation, and contemporaneity distinguished, conflated, or instrumentalized?

– What happens when evidence, practice, or listening resists an established framework?

– How can criticism exercise judgment without reproducing unexamined authority?

– How do research, curation, publishing, and programming distribute visibility and legitimacy?

– What responsibilities accompany the public interpretation of contested practices?

– What would a genuinely plural, revisable, and critically accountable introduction to new music require?

These questions are indicative rather than mandatory. Participants are expected to formulate project-specific questions with appropriate historical, conceptual, and methodological precision.
